A 'Fleurettes' perfume bottle and stopper, No. 576, designed c.1919. Decorated and stained in relief with bands of small patinated flowers and the round, slightly domed stopper having a matching floral around its edge. Impressed to the bottom with the long tail 'L' Lalique signature intaglio - H 20.5cm, square block form body measuring 9.5cm
René Lalique was born in 1860 and began his career as a jewellery apprentice. By 1881, he was a freelance designer for many of the best known Parisian jewellers then, in 1885, he opened his own workshop on Place Gaillon in Paris. In 1887, Lalique opened a business on Rue Du Quatre-Septembre and registered the 'RL' mark the following year. Within a decade, Lalique was amongst the best known Parisian jewellers.
In 1905, Lalique opened a new shop at Place Vendôme exhibiting not only jewellery but glass works as well. It was close to renowned perfumer, François Coty and, in 1907, Lalique began producing ornate perfume bottles for Coty. During the 1920's and 30's, Lalique was amongst the Worlds most renowned glassmakers.
The is a beautiful example of a René Lalique perfume bottle and is highly desirable. It is a versatile piece that can be displayed in a variety of interiors settings
